What is Mauritius’ Prime Minister doing in London?

Rumours are swirling in London and Port Louis after Prime Minister of Mauritius Navin Ramgoolam is said to have quietly visited Britain – the latest in a string of behind-closed-doors meetings about the future of the Chagos Islands.

Ramgoolam is allegedly in London on a “private visit,” but UK officials reportedly fear he’ll use the trip to demand more money over the Chagos Islands deal.

According to political gossip website Guido Fawkes, Ramgoolam would be meeting his Chagos legal team, though no official talks with the UK government or Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer have been planned.

Meanwhile Chagossians from the BIOT Citizen group continue to protest outside No. 10 Downing Street, accusing both governments of sidelining their rights in the sovereignty dispute.

THE CHAGOS FILES has asked No. 10 for details. Officials referred us to the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office. The FCDO confirmed to THE CHAGOS FILES that no member of the government met Mauritian Prime Minister Ramgoolam in his visit to the UK.

So who did he meet?
